Freshen your bedrooms for summertime with a few simple swaps. Giving these rooms a lighter, brighter feel is the goal, so thing breathable fabrics, lighter colors and a touch of greenery!

Weight: Switch out heavier end-of-bed blankets for lighter linen or cotton throws. Simply remove your down comforter insert and use the duvet cover as your bedspread. Switch sheets to cooler bamboo ones. And trade heavy drapes for lighter sheer ones to let the sunshine in and brighten up those rooms.

Color: When switching out bedding for summertime, think white, pastels and lighter shades to add a breezy, seaside feel to the room. If you’re up for a small renovation, paint one wall in your bedroom a light accent color and then pull that color into your bedding with new pillows and throws. Floral or botanical prints on accent pillows also feel summery when added to your bedding.

Texture: First, decluttering your bedrooms and especially stashing anything that says winter or heaviness is a must for a lighter, peaceful area. Then, adding baskets, wicker items, woven rugs and other natural material textural elements to your room will give it an outdoor, summertime vibe. Adding plants in your newly uncovered windows will bring some of the outside in, adding texture and interest as well.

Senses: Treat your senses to summertime smells and sounds. Add bright, citrus candles or flowers. A white noise air filter will keep the room fresh. And don’t forget your favorite summer playlist on repeat.
