Neighborhood Halloween ideas don’t have to just be trick-or-treating and pumpkin decorating. Try some unique and memorable activities that the kids in the neighborhood will keep talking about long after Halloween has ended.
- Host a Mysterious Neighbor Exchange – Like a Secret Santa exchange, but Halloween-themed, this fun little treat exchange will keep everyone guessing all month long, until the reveal on Halloween of which neighbor has been leaving which treats on your doorstep!
- Witches Brew Potluck – Before everyone heads out to trick or treat, host a driveway potluck where each family contributes a spooky snack or drink, gets to know each other and starts the evening off right.
- Halloween Window Walk – Encourage neighbors to decorate a window in their house with a Halloween theme. Then organize a window walk where families stroll through the neighborhood to see everyone’s display. Award prizes for spookiest, funniest or most creative window.
- Skull Egg Hunt – Paint small round decorative stones to look like little skulls and hide them for kids to find, just like an Easter Egg hunt but for tiny skulls.
- Monster Dash – Host a costume relay race for the kids where they dress up in their Halloween costumes and run in relay teams, passing a baton (like a mini broomstick or Halloween stuffed animal).
- Pumpkin Hide and Seek – Kids can decorate pumpkins and then parents hide them, writing clues to find them, like a scavenger hunt, encouraging them to explore each other’s yards and know their neighborhood better.
